First started back in early 2001 as a Ronin Warriors fansite under the name Bent Productions, the devious dungeon of the damned (the damned being Hal Bender) was hosted at a variety of sponsored sites including Stormpages, Angelfire, and Freewebs. It was ugly and full of suck (but the kids loved it), and the hosts were always finding some creative new ways of dicking their clients with ads, bandwidth limits, and various other facepalm-worthy shenanigans. Eventually the site went viral and couldn't be contained by any free web service, so it was time to move on and leave the old name behind. The next incarnation of the site was StudioBent.com, launched in the spring of 2002, hosted and paid for on a private, reliable, high-bandwidth server. It enjoyed a four year lifespan and spread its AIDS into other fandoms, including Metalocalypse, Good Omens, Zelda, Lord of the Rings, and other unfortunate victims. After a while the "studio" slowed down, Bender entered college, and it was time to shop around for deals. Bent-Halo.net then took over when StudioBent.com was put to rest, and now the domain functions more as a personal storage vault and showroom of monstrosities than any studio or production line of its past. The basic ideology of "bending the halos of the innocent masses" has come a long way, but it still lives on (to the delight of some and the dismay of many). Who knows what's in store for the coming years... |
